WHY I DESIGN

Thank you for viewing my digital portfolio. This is just a small snapshot of a few of my favorite designs. As I mentioned on my home page, I am an award winning designer who likes to design pretty much anything. Strong and appealing visual communication is crucial to the success of your business.

After many years in roles such as manager, sales, trainer, administrative assistant, event planner, marketing and customer service, I finally decided to pursue my dream of becoming a professional graphic designer. I attended College of the Mainland in 2011 to earn my Associate's of Applied Science Degree in Graphic Design and finally , voila, a professional designer was born!

My passion started when I worked at UTMB in Galveston. I decided to start an employee newsletter for 120+ employees because I love sharing ideas and teaching others what I know, plus it was a fun craft for me!  In the early days, I used an old 1980's computer terminal to typeset my newsletter and I would find graphics from books and tape them onto my printed copy, then make copies on the copy machine and distribute them. 

 

It grew from there. I started designing invitations, power point presentations, logos, websites, etc, etc. etc.  In 2000, I came up with an idea to create a wedding website that would include mini wedding websites. This was before wedding websites became so popular 20 years ago. You could go to my website, find your bride and groom, get all of their wedding info, RSVP, link to their registry, etc. This is just an example of how I love to think creatively.

I've also had the opportunity to teach a few classes at Galveston College for the Continuing Department.  Those classes include Photoshop for Beginners and MS Excel.
